No single score can tell the full story of a response. Quality improves when multiple signals are considered together and unusual patterns are reviewed in the context of the study.

Look across the respondent journey

Identity and location checks can indicate whether the participant is plausible. Survey behavior reveals how they engaged with the questions. Open-ended answers and internal consistency add another layer. Source-level monitoring shows whether a pattern is isolated or systemic.

Avoid blunt thresholds

A fast completion is not automatically careless, and a slow one is not automatically thoughtful. Survey length varies by route, device and respondent familiarity. Strong controls use expected ranges, route-aware timing and corroborating evidence.

  • Identity, device and location consistency
  • Route-aware completion behavior
  • Answer consistency and differentiation
  • Open-end relevance and specificity
  • Source-level conversion and quality trends

Keep experienced review in the loop

Automation helps teams see patterns at scale. Human review remains essential for resolving ambiguous cases, evaluating study context and deciding whether to pause, replace or reconcile a source.
